How to get ahead

What can I do to get ahead? Have you been wrestling the bed covers over that question?

First, acknowledge what you’ve tried hasn’t worked, i.e., the rat race. “The hurrieder I go, the behinder I get.”

That method has exhausted you. Frustrated you, disappointed you, hasn’t it?

It’s the hamster on the treadmill. It’s pushing the monster boulder up the hill. And watching anxiously as it rolls all the way back down. You do it all over again.  And again. And again. Doesn’t that sound more than a little like Monday morning to you? Then Monday night you pull the covers over your head and dream about Friday? Or when the day comes that you’ll finally make it?

There is another way. A way that’s different from the dog eat dog, cutthroat competition, kill or be killed ego way.

You have to be willing to do something different. You have to be willing to go against the so-called norm.

It’s not anything weird.

In fact, when you look back on it, you’ll see that chasing around out here in the madhouse world is what’s weird.

Stressing , rushing, pushing, shoving. Clambering up that ladder. Laying waste to anyone in your way. Getting to the top and finding out there’s nothing but yet another ladder? Now that’s weird.

It’s hard. It’s not fun. It’s sleepless nights. Noisy days. Driven all too often by the evening news.

It doesn’t work. Does it? More wars especially those wars in the the space between your ears. More fighting. More children and adults on drugs. More anxiety. “What will happen to me?!”

How about this?

Can you do something different, in order to have something different—such as abiding peace, joy and happiness?

Whatever you dislike most in your life right now,  can you say, I love you? Whoever you dislike the most in your life can you say, I love you? I am you?

Whatever  you most want to change in your life can you say, I love you? Whoever you most want to change,  can you say, I love you?   I am you?

Whatever your current circumstance, can you say, I love you? Thank you? Thank you. Thank you.

Your bank account? Can you say I love you? Can you say, I love you in spite of the balance? Can you say, thank you, I love you, in spite of how your bank balance stacks up against the Joneses?

Your prickly boss. Your unappreciative co-workers. Your nosy mother in law. That obnoxious politician. Can you say, I am you, I love you? Can you say, Thank you for showing me what’s buried out of sight in my own subconscious mind that I  haven’t wanted to look at?

That sniffle and itchy throat you’re suddenly feeling. Can you say, thank you, I love you? And again. And again?

Can you stop fighting? Can you stop fighting with those voices in your mind? Those feelings? Regret. Shame.Embarrassment. Past. Future. Your father. Your mother. That teacher who roughed you up and ruffled your feathers? That bully in the 7th grade?  All those enemies within and outside. Can you say, I am you. I love you. Thank you. Thank you.

In spite of all the mental noise to the contrary, all the unpleasant circumstances, can you say, I love you? I am you? You are me? I love you. Thank you?

The mind cries out loudly! What do you want me to do?! Do you want me to let the world walk all over me? Can you say, I love you. I love you. I love you.

Let go of the resistance. Let go of pushing back against whoever or whatever is coming your way. Let go of the disapproval. And say I love you.

Welcome, embrace, allow. Say I love you. I am you. I love you.

Let go of wanting, desperately wanting them to love you. Let go of disapproval and love yourself. Broadcast love to them. Let go of wanting anything in return. Say, I love you. I am you. I love you.

Let go of desperately wanting to control them, or him, or her, or those circumstances. Let go. Say, I love you. I am you. I love you. I love you.

Let go of the insecurity. The worry, the doubt, the tension. The lacking security and lacking control feeling called fear. Let it go. Say I love you. I am you. I love you.

Now fill in the blank—your greatest concern of this moment—say I love you, I love you, I love you. Let go. Let that deep unmoving silence within you take over. I love you.

Whatever the world—-your mind—wants to do, say, “I love you. I am you. Thank you.”

Can you decide to Hold in mind thoughts of joy? Can you decide to let go of any thoughts of misery any time they arise?

Can you decide to Hold in mind what you want? And reject any other thoughts that try to muscle their way in?

Can you Be grateful, no matter what’s happening?

Look into the eyes of what appears to be that person apart from you, maybe a hated and feared enemy. Say I am you. I love you. Thank you. And mean it. Really mean it. Can you do it?

And you will have everything.

I am you. I love you.
